Elizabeth Virginia Cowan

Elizabeth "Betty" Virginia Cowan, 91, of Temple, TX entered heaven's gates on Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was born in Lewistown, MT to William Frederick and Virginia Catherine (Divers) Foshag and lived in Lewistown until after she graduated from Fergus County High School in 1942. Betty received her teaching degree from Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, CO.

Betty's first teaching job was in Roswell, NM where she met Johnnie Cowan. The two married June 17, 1948 in Lewistown, MT and were totally devoted to one another for 59 years. Johnnie preceded her in death in 2007. In addition to teaching in Roswell, NM she taught in Guymon, OK and Amarillo, TX. She retired in 1984 after being the favorite and most kind teacher to hundreds of children.

The communities where she lived and the churches she attended were blessed by her service. Currently a member of First Baptist Church, Temple, TX where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class and Triple L.

In addition to her husband, Johnnie, preceding her in death were her parents, William and Virginia. Betty leaves a beautiful legacy of loving Jesus with her family members:
Her most cherished daughter, Jan Tyroch & (husband Grady) of Temple, TX, her devoted son, Richie Cowan & (wife Brenda) of Amarillo, TX and her loving brother, Tom Foshag & (wife Arlotte) of Denver, CO. She has four married grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The newest grandson being born just hours after she passed away.
