Ellen Nelson, 82, of Lowndesville, wife of Marion 'Wild Bill' Nelson, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. She was born in the Ridge Community to the late Clifton Eugene Davis and Reba Powell Davis. Mrs. Nelson was a lifelong residence of Lowndesville. She worked a few years at the Bloomsburg Mill, Starr Mill and lastly the lunchroom when the Lowndesville School was open. Her passion was taking care of her family, attending auctions and never missing the Lowndesville Dances. She served on the Lowndesville Town Council and was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Speer and two brothers, James Dunn and Bobby Davis. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 63 years Bill of the home; two sons, Thomas 'Square Head' Nelson and his wife Glenda and Barry Nelson and his wife Louise all of the Nation Community in Abbeville County; six grandchildren, Michelle Nelson Evans, Chastity Nelson, Jeremy Nelson, Abigail Nelson, Paige Nelson and Anna Nelson; six great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Tuesday beginning at 11:30AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Methodist Cemetery. The family is at the home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Nelson may be sent to the Smyrna Methodist Church, PO Box 100, Lowndesville, SC 29659.
