Arrowsmith - Elmo A. Epperson, 95, of Arrowsmith, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Bickford House of Bloomington.
Elmo was born April 8, 1921, in Leroy, the son of Harry and Artie Scott Epperson. He was united in marriage to Eloise Stanger Epperson on February 14, 1943. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2008.
Surviving are their children, Sherrill Loebig of Bloomington; Karen (Earl) Simpson of Downs; and Janet (Larry) Kinsell of Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Anita Epperson of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Kevin (Kristi) Simpson of Downs; Staci (Thomas) Reidy of Leroy; Kristi (Pat) Pfister of Bloomington; Jeffrie Vance of Bloomington; Amanda (Alan) Lawrence of N.C.; and Andrea (Chris) Goins of Bloomington; ten great-grandchildren; Lucas, Vance, Cole, Grace, Amelia, Hadley, Maddox, Gavin, Riley, and Wyatt. a sister, Valeria Dotson of Leroy. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry and Terry Epperson; a brother, Ervin Epperson; and a brother-in-law, Roger Dotson.
Elmo farmed throughout McLean County and was also Arrowsmith Township Trustee for many years. He loved the outdoors. He also loved to garden and share his produce with family and friends. He was a member of the Arrowsmith American Legion and was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 149 for over 50 years.
As per Elmo's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arrowsmith Fire Department or to the donor's choice.
