Eloise Delza Moore, 94, entered her eternal rest on July 16, 2017 following a long illness. She was born in Heatherman, Kanawha County, West Virginia, on May 5, 1923 to Joseph Bart Belcher and Artie Gibson Belcher. She grew up during the Depression and had to leave home as a young girl to find work and lodging. She married Ralph Nimrod “Dickie” Moore on January 7, 1942, shortly after the US entered World War II. She and Dickie were married 58 years and had four children, Larry Edward, Drema Kay, Patricia Ann and Richard Wayne.

Eloise was a wife, a mother, a grandmother and friend to many. Her home was always open to family, to friends and to young people. She was like a second mother or grandmother to many children and young people over the years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren affectionately called her Mamaw Weeze.

Eloise worked at Moore’s Grocery in Rand, WV with Dickie and her children during the 1960’s and 1970’s. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Rand First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also sang in the choir, served on the Church Board and did door-to-door visitation throughout the Rand community. Her life was a testimony to her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she accepted as her Savior as a young girl alone in the woods near Morris Creek.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Moore; sons, Larry Moore and Richard Moore; daughters-in-law, Joan Elswick Moore and Julie Ruzzo Moore; son-in-law, Philip “Skip” Cochran; sisters, Wavy Bishop, Dorthy Campbell and Belva McCoy; and brother, Syville "Bill" Belcher.

She is survived by brother, Harry Belcher; half sisters, Mary White and Martha Ore; daughters, Drema (Victor) Clark and Patricia Cochran; daughter-in-law, Rosalind Moore; grandchildren Melissa Smith, Melanie Copeland, Gregory Moore, Kelly McMinn, Stephanie Cook, Kent Cochran, Christopher Cochran, and Amber Moore, and by ten great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express gratitude to Paula Hinzman and Margaret Hayes for their lovingly care and to the staff from Kanawha HospiceCare for making her final days more comfortable. We also want to thank Pastor Gordon Killion and friends from the Rand First Church of the Nazarene who visited and expressed their love.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the funeral home with the Reverend Gordon Killion, Pastor of the Rand First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rand First Church of the Nazarene, 305 Davidson Ave., Charleston, WV 25306 or to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, WV 25387.
