Elton Calvery Jr. was born on January 18, 1960 in Vernon Texas to Scotty and Fay Calvery. He passed on September 13, 2017 after a long battle with his health.

In school Elton always had a large group of friends that became family to us. Sam Miller,, Sam Denton and Dwayne Brown to name a few.

Elton worked many jobs in many industries during his life. His first jobs during high school were at pizza places. We all got a kick out of watching him flipping pizzas in the window of the old Pizza Inn on 303. And he was a favorite at the Shotgun Sams on 360 where they always had him announcing the ready orders because of his slow Texas drawl. We think quite a lot of their business was from friends of his wanting to hang out there with him.

There were many jobs working at various printing businesses. His favorite was Score, where they printed baseball, football and hockey cards. He worked construction jobs including remodeling jobs with his Great-Uncle Eddith Mackey where he developed his love of woodworking. He worked with the crews that put up some of the hangers for business and private planes at DFW airport. In later years he got his license as a forklift operator which he maintained until his health kept him from working.

A few of his favorite hobbies were building models, woodworking, watching the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR races. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He enjoyed playing pool and earned a couple trophies during his time playing. He was an avid bowler and played in many leagues when he was younger.

His sidekick for the past 18 years was his chihuahua Pancho. Pancho always watched over Elton and stayed by his side constantly. Pancho misses him very much.

Elton is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his sisters Sherry Calvery, Terri Sanders, brother-in-law Bubba Sanders and nephew Jacob Sanders all of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Everyone that knew Elton will remember him as always being kind, polite and just a laid back, easy going guy. Never in a hurry and took each day as it came. He was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. Elton will be forever in our heart and the many memories we have will always be treasured.

We will close by saying what Elton would say at the end of every phone call or conversation. "Thank you very much and have a nice day."
