NEW HARTFORD – Elwin "Ed" Ocain, 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Inez (Spino) Ocain for 65 years. Born May 28, 1923 in Torrington, CT; the son of the late John and Genieve (Hall) Ocain. Ed graduated from Torrington High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1947, he graduated from the American Academy of Mortuary Research and then became a Licensed Funeral Director. Ed worked for Torrent Funeral Home in Norfolk and Litchfield from 1948 -1980 and then the John J. Shea Funeral Home in New Hartford and Winsted from 1980 – 2004. He was an avid Yankees Fan, a member of the Norfolk Lions Club and a lifetime member and Past President of the Norfolk Curling Club. He also enjoyed the game of Quiots. He leaves, two sons, Timothy Ocain and his wife Laurie of Torrington and Christopher Ocain of New Hartford; three grandchildren, Daryl, Danielle and Michael and 5 great grandchildren, Taylor, Colin, Julia, Joshua and Molly. He was predeceased by a son, Brian Ocain and his brother, John Ocain. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Barkhamsted Center Cemetery, Barkhamsted at 11 AM with full Military Honors.
