Emil Joe Rokyta, 93, of Port Lavaca passed away November 11, 2017. He was born August 18, 1924 in Port Lavaca to the late Frank J. and Delfie Holy Rokyta. Emil served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corp and participated in action in Iwo Jima and Guam. He was retired from Alcoa, was a life member of the VFW Post 4403 and loved hunting, fishing and working in his yard and garden.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne Rokyta (Betty) of Victoria, Danny Rokyta (Mary) of Goliad; brother, Leo Rokyta of Victoria; grandchildren, Shae Smith, Darin Rokyta, Tara Sanders, Devin Rokyta and Amy Herzog and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne M. Rokyta; parents; sisters, Elsie Lange, Eileen Matula and brother, Frank Rokyta.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Darin Rokyta, Devin Rokyta, Kyler Sander, Austin Sanders, Franklin Rokyta and Paul Noska.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
