Emma Meta Riekena, 94, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Manor Court in Peoria. She was born on December 5, 1922 in Bartonville to Klaus and Emma (Stuaan) Krus. She married Edward Riekena on June 27, 1942 in Bartonville, Illinois.

Surviving is her loving husband, Edward of 74 years, also surviving is one son, Robert (Carol) Riekena of Bartonville; three grandchildren, Troy Riekena, Tammy (Ty) Woodmancy and Trent Riekena; six great grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Woodmancy, Brendon (Alexandria) Grove, Caroline Woodmancy, Drake Woodmancy, Cody Riekena and Mattison Riekena; four great great grandchildren, Jackson, Finlee and Griffin Woodmancy and Ayden Grove. She has several nieces and nephews surviving. Emma was preceded in death by six brothers, Ellis, Bill, Albert, Fred, Pete and Clarence Krus.

She was a cook for eight years at Bellevue Grade School and later worked as a cook at Limestone High School for several years. She loved square dancing, she and her husband Ed, wintered many years in Florida. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. Emma was an avid Cardinal fan.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Glasford, Illinois.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harlan Kaden will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her church. The Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is handling arrangements.
