Emmett "Buddy" Hennington Owens, Jr., 70, of Florence, MS, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Visitation will be held 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 20, 2017 and 9:00 to 10:00 am Monday, August 21, 2017 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Forkville, MS.

Buddy was born Saturday, November 2, 1946, in Jackson, a son of the late Emmett and Dean Owens.

Buddy was an athlete, hunter, fisherman, and a loving family man. He loved the Lord and lived his life serving others. Buddy graduated from Provine High School in 1964. He joined the Marine Corps on March 30, 1966, where he served 4 years and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He had a long career as a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning contractor. He served on the Mayor's Mechanical Board and was President of the Mississippi Plumbing Association. Buddy was also a member of the VFW and National Rifle Association.

Buddy was a devoted husband of 45 years to his wife, Bonnye Beavers Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Ann Welburn.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnye Owens; children, Alicia Bowie and Emmett Hennington Owens, III (Heather); grandchildren, Brealand Bowie and Emma Dean Owens; brothers and sisters, Miriam Power (Mark), Gary Owens (Ronna), David Owens, and Teresa Cobb (Roy), plus numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the many friends who have called, visited, and prayed for us through this difficult time.
