Eric Von Brent was born April 30, 1962 to parents Charles and Joyce Brent. Born with a drawing pencil in his hand, he would learn to perfect his art.
As a child Eric was baptized at Holy Angels church.
In 1977 Eric attended Tilden High School, until he pursued his passion, joining the U S Army. He traveled the world, learned the trade of welding and served his country proud for eight years.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Eric lived in South Carolina as a welder with his wife Malisha Brent until their marriage ended and he returned to Chicago in the late nineteen eighties. He continued to draw and paint. Illustrating a comic book, painting portraits, and creating tack art masterpieces.
Eric chose not to have children. But his legacy lives on in those he mentored, some of which have become very successful illustrators.
Eric was an avid gamer. And member of successful bowling leagues over the years. You would see him riding his bike or rollerblading through the street whenever weather permitted.
He was very proud that recently he reached 10 years at the job he loved.
On November 8, 2017 at 10:35 pm with his Mother, Brother and his Sweetheart Bridget by his side, his battle with cancer was over.
Eric leaves behind, his cherished mother Joyce Brent Carter. Siblings, Marcus Brent, Paris Gibson, Natalie Brent. Nephews, Deammie McGee and Mark Gibson. And niece/ Goddaughter Maya Gibson. He leaves behind cousins, and friends. His father preceded him in death.
Eric leaves behind his sweetheart Bridget, the love of his life and her children and grandchildren who he loved and had also become very important in his life.

Visitation Saturday, 3-8 PM, at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N Western Ave, Chicago. Life Celebration Service will be held Saturday at 7 PM at the funeral home.
