Erma Joe Poole Sweet was born September 24, 1935 in Seagoville, Texas to the parentage of the late Joe Eddie Poole and Bobbie Myers Poole. Erma was educated in public schools of Seagoville, Texas where she was a vital part of the girl's basketball team.

She was later united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. Tom Sweet, Sr. on April 4, 1953 in Dallas, TX. As the matriarch of the family, she devoted her life to loving and inspiring her family and friends. She was a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman; taking special care of her husband, children and home. All who knew her will surely remember her smile, her warmth, her delicious meals, and her unconditional love for all.

Erma made Jesus Christ her personal savior and lived a life dedicated to spreading his love through scriptures, inspirational words, as well as daily acts of kindness and selfless love. In the late 1960's, she became a member of the First Pentecostal Church where she was baptized in the name of Jesus, saved, and filled with the Holy Ghost.

She was an avid reader of The Dallas Morning News, and enjoyed collecting recipes, doing word finds and fishing at the lake. She delighted in reading books and has likely read more than 1000 books in her lifetime! She and her daughter, Deborah, both loved reading and playing spades and have gifted generations of friends and family with memories of those fun times.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Tom Sweet, Sr., her son Tracy Glen Sweet, and her daughter Deborah Kaye Green.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Donald Ray Poole (5 children, 3 grandchildren); Deborah Isaac Hopes (2 children, 3 grandchildren); Eddie Joe Sweet (Donna) (3 children, 7 grandchildren); Bobby Joe Sweet (3 children, 5 grandchildren); Deborah Kaye Green (deceased) (2 children, 7 grandchildren); Linda Darlene Sweet Taylor (3 children, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grand); Tom Sweet, Jr. (2 children); Teresa Ann Steward (Reginald) (7 children, 12 grandchildren); Michael Keith Sweet (4 children, 3 grandchildren); Michelle Denise Duncan (Jerry) (5 children, 2 grandchildren); Tracy Glen Sweet (deceased) (3 children, 3 grandchildren); Raymond Eugene Preston (Denise) (5 children, 9 grandchildren); and her devoted sister Saundra K. Scott (2 children, 4 grandchildren).
