Erminio (Mino) Uranga, by the Grace of God, passed into the Lord's care August 13, 2017 from complications of his battle with cancer. Mino was born in Fort Stockton, Texas, April 24, 1938 to Adela and Faustino Uranga. He was a lifetime resident of Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1957. He attended Odessa College before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1961. He was stationed at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and served as Airman First Class with the 4th Weather Wing. In 1967, Mino joined the Odessa Police Department as a Patrolman and worked his way to the rank of Detective in 1971. During his service with OPD, Mino was nominated and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in 1974. Mino also served many years with the Ector County Sheriff's Department where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1998. Not one to be content with golfing and fishing, after retirement from law enforcement Mino stayed active in carpentry, roofing, and home renovation work with his good friend, Bill Burns, in the Robert Lee area.
Mino, a caring husband, grandfather, friend, and who never met a stranger, is survived by his devoted wife, Magdalena Ann Uranga. Mino and Maggie were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa on June 15, 1963. They have two children and four grandchildren: daughter, Deborah Ann Hubert, her husband, Scot and their children, Judith Camille and John Scot; and son, Paul Uranga, his wife Natalie, and their children, Joaquin and Zoey Adela.
Mino is also survived by his sisters and their families, Nerea Vasquez and husband Robert of Odessa, TX; Paula Markas of Joplin, MO; Diana Feigenbaum and husband Miles of Dallas, TX; and Rosemary Corbin and husband Rob of Orlando, FL.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the scholarship fund at St. Mary's Central Catholic School, 1703 Adams, Odessa, Texas 79761.
