Ernest Earl Lankster passed away peacefully at his home on December 25, 2017. He was born on January 21, 1928 to Alfred and Melissy Lankster of Madison County, Alabama.

Earl was born and raised in Alabama and also lived in Illinois and Florida before he and Ruth made their home in Dallas in the early 1950’s. He retired from Rhino Products after 15 years of faithful service and began working at the Donut Palace in Mesquite, where he found he had a true passion for donuts, and this quickly became his favorite job. Earl loved gardening and farming was in his blood as he worked for his father at the age of 12 overseeing the workers in the fields in Alabama. He was old and set in his ways, some might say cantankerous, but he had a very giving heart and was a good Christian man. Affectionately known as “Pop”, his family was his greatest pleasure in life and they will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Preceding him in death are his parents; great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Smith; brothers Billy Ray Lankster, Joe Lankster and Alfred Lankster and sister Jeanine Lankster.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Ruth Lankster; daughter Wanda Holder and husband, Jack; grandchildren: Robert Sutherland and Shelly Grant and husband, David; great-grandchildren: Duston Sutherland and Connor Smith; great-great-grandson: Dawson Sutherland; sisters Dorothy Lepper and Corrine McKelvey and brothers Ted Lankster and Jim Lankster; a host of extended family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
