Esme Phyllis Buntin (written by Esme Buntin's Niece)

In loving memory of Mrs. Esme Phyllis Buntin, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2017 in Grapevine, Texas. Esme was born to the late Reginald William Grace and Phyllis May Swain on January 23, 1930 in Surbiton, Surrey, England. Her father was an accountant, her mother a home maker. Esme will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor to all who knew and loved her.

Esme went to Surbiton Elementary School and then followed in her mother's footsteps and trained to be a nurse. After graduating, she moved to Bahrain and worked in Awali where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Buntin.
Esme had a long and happy life by Roberts side in the years that followed, she loved him dearly. She travelled the world and along the way she met and made some lovely, lifelong friends. She got to visit some amazing places such as Hong Kong, East Africa, Philippines, to name but a few and finally Texas, which became her permanent home.

Esme loved all her friends and neighbors and she enjoyed their company very much. She always looked forward to meeting up with her friends regularly. Esme met with the Ladies sewing circle every Thursday and she enjoyed preparing food for when it was her turn for the group to visit her home. Esme loved to cook and would occasionally invite friends round for dinner, especially on New Year's Day. It became a tradition, as part of the festive season to invite her close friends round for homemade steak pies on New Year's Day. Esme loved tennis and looked forward to the tennis season during the summertime, especially Wimbledon and would always ring her sister Valerie to discuss the latest Wimbledon results. Esme was very close to her sister Valerie and they would talk on the telephone for hours. Their conversations usually ended up with the both of them in fits of uncontrollable laughter. Esme was interested in wildlife and enjoyed watching the occasional wildlife program on TV.

One of her favorite pastimes was watching the birds visit the bird feeders by her living room window, she always looked out for the humming birds. Esme loved being round young people especially children and thoroughly enjoyed being visited by her neighbor's kids. It gave her great pleasure to hear the happy chatter and laughter the children brought into her home and Esme always made sure the cookie jar was full.

Esme always had a positive outlook on life. She was such a loving, generous, kind and gentle lady, with a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed.

Mrs. Buntin is survived by her niece Esme Phyllis Wallace of East Boldon, England, and stepson Jamie Buntin of London, England.

She was preceded in death by her sister Mrs. Valerie Pape of East Boldon, England.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.
