Estelle M. Berube, 90, of Manchester, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend died Wednesday (November 19, 2008) in Rocky Hill. Born in Hartford on March 10, 1918, daughter of the late Karol and Anna (Woloszczuk) Slusarczyk, she had lived in Manchester for 62 years. Estelle was a parishioner of St. Bridget Church, Manchester and the Church’s Catholic Mother’s Circle. She worked for many years at Aetna Life & Casualty, Hartford Accident and Indemnity, and the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. She had a great passion for birds and animals, especially her cats and dogs, was an exceptional pianist who loved popular and classics, and practiced the fine art of rug braiding and sewing. She was an avid reader and in her early years was an accomplished high school athlete and scout leader. She leaves her children, Richard Berube and his wife, Susan of Tequesta, FL, David Berube and his wife, Kathleen of Longmeadow, MA, Jeanne Hamilton and her husband, Thomas of Glastonbury and Constance Berube DeMaio of Rocky Hill; seven grandchildren, Thomas Hamilton, III, Susan Garland, Ryan Berube, Nicole, Ned, Ellen, and Claire Berube; six great grandchildren, Brandon, Griffin, Elliott, Caroline, Caitlin and Jack and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar J. Berube and by a son-in-law, John DeMaio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester. Her family will receive friends, Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
