On January 30, 1940 Esther Salinas was born to Severa Pena Salinas and Jose Salinas. Esther met Alfonso "Poncho" Leal 6 years and one month later they were married on April 21, 1968. They would travel and live in numerous cities and states before settling in Odessa in 1974. On January 28, 1978 they were blessed with a little boy Jose. He would definitely keep them on their toes. Jose was a mama's boy until the end. Esther took him everywhere she went. Esther loved her family. She would tend to them and care for them on every level possible. Esther loved her Lord and she attended St. Elizabeth regularly. Esther was The life of the party if there was a gathering she was definitely going to be there. She enjoyed being able to go and celebrate with family and friends on numerous occasions. She had six beautiful grandchildren she lived every day for them. If her grandchildren wanted her to cook then she was going to cook, even if it upset their daddy. She would tell their dad "these are my babies, so be quiet!" Her grandbabies were everything even spoiled. She didn't get four of her granddaughters until later in their life but she didn't treat them any different than she did the other two she loved them equally in with she would tell each one of her grandbabies that they were her favorite. Esther was a wife, mother, sister and a Tia.

She is preceded in death her parents Severa and Jose Salinas, Her brother and sisters, Manuel Salinas, Juanita Salinas de Rodriquez, Felix (Kiko) Salinas, Salvador (Loy) Salinas, Lucinda de San Miguel, Domingo Salinas de San Miguel, Mario Salinas, Jose Salinas, Guillermo (Willie) Salinas, Paulino Salinas.

She is survived by her husband Alfonso Leal, her son Jose Leal and his wife Melody. Her grandchildren Hayley Anderson her husband Chase, Morgan Reed, Kelsey Reed, Jordan Leal, Marissa Leal and Bailey Reed. Pallbearers are Tony Reyna, Alfonso Reyna, Lee Renteria, Nick Brown, Carlos San Miguel, Reynaldo Leal Jr.

Family will receive friends from 3pm to 9pm Tuesday, December 13, 2016 with Rosary at 7pm at Odessa Funeral Home. Mass will be 10am Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery~Odessa II section.
