Ethel Josephine Pollet, a Prineville resident passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011. She was 85 years old.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2:00p.m at Prineville Community Church. Pastor Chris Cookson, and Pastor Ron Caulkins will officiate. Burial will be at the Middleton Cemetery in Middleton, Idaho next to her husband.
Ethel was born in Mackay, Idaho on March 30, 1925 to Emery & Daisy A. (Warren) LaRocque. She attended and graduated from Hawthorne High School in Nevada in 1943.
She married Eugene M. "Pete" Pollet in Winnemucca, Nevada on September 5, 1950.
After their marriage, they lived in Idaho until1962. The adventuresome couple moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where they raised their family until 1980. After retirement she and Pete divided their time between Hemet, California and Portland, Oregon. In 1999 she moved to Prineville to be closer to her Daughter, Evelyn Morse and her family.
Ethel worked for JC Penny's in both Idaho and Alaska as a Department Manager, and then as a Non-foods Manager for Procter's Grocery Stores of Alaska until the time of her retirement. Ethel later enjoyed working with her daughter at Memories Etc. in Prineville
Ethel was a member of the Prineville Community Church, and the Crook County Extension Service, where she was looking forward to the Bird House Project, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed the company of many at the Senior Center where they ate lunch every day for several years. Ethel was very involved with her family and was widely known as a storyteller who always had a joke to tell.
Ethel also was an avid reader; she loved to travel and play golf. Later in life, she enjoyed scrapbooking and quilting. Throughout her life she loved playing cards with friends and family.
Ethel is survived by her daughters; Evelyn & her husband Harold L. Morse of Prineville, Oregon, Patricia McLane of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Tracey & her husband Ronald Hand of Wasilla, Alaska,
one brother; Levi John LaRocque & his wife Betty of Boise, Idaho, brother-in-law Vance Pollet, Boise Idaho, and Sisters-in-law Nadine Johnson, Clarkston Washington, and Maxine Pounds, Camas, Washington. seven grandchildren; Kelli Baumer & her husband Jeff, Wendy Willis & her husband Wade, Jamie Ward & his wife Kendra, Lindsey McKean & her husband Lee, Ryan Hand, Danielle Hand, and Joshua Hand and five great grandchildren; Michaela Wilson, Megan Baumer, Savannah Willis, Sierra Willis and Beau McKean. She also had numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Eugene M. "Pete" Pollet in Boise in 1985, three sisters; Sylvia Cresto, Mary Toops, and Lois Berry.
