Obituary

Ethel Lee Pryor "Tutta" was born on October 10, 1931 in Holly Springs, Mississippi to the late John Pryor and Clary Phillips-Pryor. She was one of five children.
Ethel confessed Christ and was baptized at a young age while attending Chulahoma Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi.

On December 27, 1950, Ethel was united in holy matrimony to Roosevelt Jeffries. To this union 15 children were born. She worked as a sharecropper along with her husband continuously during this time, only stopping for a short period to give birth, for many years. She was also a well-known cook at the Northside Café in Holly Springs. A skill that she passed along to her children that is still well known at family get togethers today.

In 1968 Ethel relocated to Aurora, IL in search of a better life for herself and her children. She worked at various jobs before retiring as a Housekeeper at the Holiday Inn where she was successfully employed over 20 years.

After years of separation from her husband, she befriended her longtime companion, the late James L. Jackson, with whom she bore one son (Bunky).
While living in Aurora, she became a faithful member of Progressive Baptist Church where she attended until her health started to fail.

Ethel peacefully entered her eternal rest on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Rush Copley Medical Center while surrounded by a host of family and friends.
She leaves to cherish in her beloved memories: Her oldest brother Willie Pryor of Holly Springs, MS; her sons, Len L. (Diane) Jeffries of Jackson, TN; Ellis T. Jeffries of Milledgeville, GA; Albert L. (Beverly) Jeffries of Ridgeland, MS; Harold (Margaret) Jeffries of Batesville, MS; Earnest T. (Kastel) Jeffries; Robert S.
