Etta Mae Cook died on April 23, 2017. She died peacefully at home just as she wished.

Etta Mae was born on March 17, 1926 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Robert Perry Spikes and Jesse Spikes. She graduated from
Shawnee High School.

On May 27, 1945, Etta Mae married Melvin Ray Cook. On January 15, 1953, she gave birth to Melvin Ray Cook II. On December 23, 1956, she gave birth to Randy Earl Cook. The family lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma and later in McAlester, Oklahoma before relocating to Grand Prairie, Texas in August 1970.

Etta Mae was a homemaker and worked tirelessly taking care of her family and home. She loved her family very much and they loved her very much.

Etta Mae is survived by her husband of 72 years Melvin R. Cook, her eldest son, Melvin Ray Cook II, Randy's wife Coni, grandchildren: Christina and husband, Adrian Gomez, Forrest and Maeghen Cook, Hannah Cook and her husband, Brady Dewan; five great-grandchildren: Gage, Jett, Jayden, Dexter and Vada; nephew Perry, niece Judy,
Sequinta and Denise.
