OBITUARY FOR DR. EUNICE HALL MAGEE

DR. EUNICE HALL MAGEE, age 95, went to be with her husband, Von Magee, and the Lord, on May 28, 2017 in Mandeville, LA. Her loving children and grandchildren were with her as she left. Eunice married Von W. Magee in 1942 at Poplarville, MS. They settled in Bogalusa, LA and lived there until 2004 when she moved to Abita Springs, LA. At the time of her death she was residing at Heritage Manor in Mandeville. Of her marriage two children were born, Von Hall Magee and William M. (Bill) Magee (Karen). She leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She attended Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville and then Southeastern Louisiana University where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade in the Bogalusa School System for 15 years. During that time, she obtained her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Southern Mississippi and then her Ph.D. in Elementary Education at Southern Mississippi. She was a leader in the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society for teachers. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Bogalusa and saw to it that her boys were given her Christian spiritual heritage. Eunice and Von were both members of what Tom Brokaw wrote about as the "Greatest Generation" and they were living examples of why they deserved to be members of this group. Eunice had a love for her family and the Lord. She was a loving and selfless mother, wife and friend. She never met a stranger and always saw the best in everyone. After retirement, she spent most of her time continuing to provide love, support and care for her children and grandchildren.
