Forest P. Nutini, 87, of Vernon, loving husband of over 62 years to Barbara (Trinque) Nutini, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Fox Hill Center with his family at his side. Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, the son of the late Forest and Frances (Dane) Nutini, he grew up and lived in Cranston and Johnston before moving to Vernon many years ago. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1988, Forest was a production planner for Hamilton Standard for over 38 years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Vernon. He enjoyed making stained glass pieces and needlepoint. After his retirement, Forest was the building and grounds keeper at Sacred Heart Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by everyone. In addition to his wife, Forest is survived by his children, Ron Nutini and his wife Cindy of Stafford Springs, and Suzan Sommerman of Windsor; four grandchildren, Robert, Gina, Marybeth, and Frances; nine great grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, Emersyn, Gavin, Jaelyn, Aimee, Ashleigh, Samantha, and Justin; two sisters, Norma Rasmussen, and Joan Brower, both of Oregon, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Gary Sommerman (July 2013). A Funeral Mass will be celebrate on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, 550 Hartford Turnpike (Route 30), Vernon. Interment will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery in Vernon with military honors. There are no calling hours. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home in Vernon is caring for the arrangements.
