rancis E. Dubuque, 87 of Grand Isle, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the UVM Medical Center with his loving family at his bedside. He was born in Grand Isle, VT on August 29, 1929 the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Lamotte) Dubuque. Francis was a lifelong farmer in Grand Isle, a Farm Bureau member, ASCS board member, and cemetery commissioner and sexton at the Grand Isle Cemetery for many years. He always loved being a dairy farmer, enjoying his animals and working the land. Francis loved his family very much and was loved deeply by all his family. He was always recognized by his ever present smile and was always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Francis is survived by his two sons Ronald and wife Diana of Grand Isle and Roland and his companion Barbara Patno of South Hero; five sisters Edna Kinney, Dorothy Dubuque and Eleanor Ratta all of Florida, and Helen Paquette and Myrle Daniels both of Burlington; six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline in 2005, his daughter Lorraine in 1982, and his brother Perley in 1992. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 11, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Church, Route 2, Grand Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Monday, December 12, at 11:00 am also at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at Grand Isle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Grand Isle Rescue, Faywood Rd. Gr. Isle, VT 05458, South Hero Rescue, 291 Route 2, South hero, VT 05486, or to Cider.
