Fetrow - Francis H (Frank) Fetrow (age 91), died July 9, 2017, surrounded by his family following an illness in New London, CT. Francis was born September 13, 1925, in York County, PA. Francis was one of seven brothers and three sisters born to the late Edward and Sallie (Decker) Fetrow.

Francis loved his country and fought for its freedom. On his eighteenth birthday, Francis joined the United States Army in 1943 and was wounded in Germany in the desperate days following the invasion of Europe. Due to his injuries, he was honorably discharged from the military. Francis was involved with the Old Lyme VFW as well as the Disable American Veterans and was proud to protect and serve his country.

Francis valued hard work. He began working for the Electrical Boat Company of Groton, CT, where he worked as carpenter in the jointer shop until his retirement in 1989. Francis was also a lifetime member of the Oswegatchie Fire Department. He was a man who never knew a stranger and everywhere he went in the community he continually greeted friends. This was on display at the Waterford Seventh Day Baptist Church where he was a parishioner for the majority of his life. His sense of humor and caring nature will surely be missed by anyone who ever came into contact with him.

Upon returning to the United States from war, he met, courted, and married Florence Briggs of Waterford, CT on May 1, 1948. The Fetrows had five children; James of Salem,WV, Judith Pappas (husband Christopher) of Twin Mountain, NH, Janette Loofboro (husband Leroy) of Milton,WI and Jean Smith (husband Scott) of North Loup, NE.
