Francis "Fran" Richard Lambert of San Marcos, California passed peacefully surrounded by his family on July 20, 2017 at the age of 77.
Fran was born on May 11, 1940 in Bridgeport, CT, one of six brothers. His family moved from Bridgeport to Stratford when he was young. Fran graduated from Stratford High School. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was trained and became an Army Medic. Fran was stationed at Baumholder Army Base, Germany. Fran was extremely proud to serve his country.
After leaving the Army Fran returned to Stratford where he met Claire Donaldson of Bridgeport Connecticut, and shortly thereafter the two were married.
Fran worked for General Electric at the Bridgeport Wire and Cable plant; subsequently he worked at the Bridgeport Sikorsky Helicopter plant. In 1968 Fran moved his young family to Milford, where they lived until 2016.
In 1969 Fran landed, what became his dream job. Fran was employed for 33 years by United Parcel Service as a long haul tractor trailer driver doing the Stratford to Maryland overnight long haul route. Fran was a UPS 5 million mile award recipient.
In retirement, Fran continued to be active with UPS, hosting annual Christmas and retirement parties for UPS long haul drivers. In this capacity, Fran helped mentor the UPS culture of service, dedication, and values to future generations of UPS drivers.
Fran is survived by his adoring wife Claire (Donaldson) Lambert of 52 years, son John Lambert of San Francisco, Daughter Laura (Lambert) Downey, Son in Law Fred Downey, grandchildren William and Ava Downey of Valley Center, CA; and his brother Paul and his wife Barbara Lambert of Milford, CT and several nieces and nephews.
Fran was predeceased by his parents Roland and Germaine (Morin) Lambert, and Brothers Roland Jr, Renee (Fred), Raymond, and Kenneth.
Services and burial with Military honors will take place at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California on August 2, 2017.
