SMSgt. Frank C. Emery Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Helotes, Texas, where he had resided for the past three years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Anna Emery; a brother, Lester Emery; a sister, Anne Emery Martin; great-grandson Brecken Jones; and his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Jean Jones Emery.

He leaves a son, Frank C. Emery III and his wife Kitzi; his daughter, Barbara Emery Williams and her husband Chet. His legacy includes his grandchildren, Gray, Davis, and Maggie Emery, Kirsten Williams Jones and husband Scott, Erin Williams Stinson and husband Chris, Lauren Williams Solano and husband Ryan; along with nine great grandchildren: Landen, Anson, Korbin, and Brayton Jones; Keegan, Brynnleigh, and Quinn Stinson; and Kennedy and Blaire Solano.

Frank was born on September 27, 1923 and raised in western Pennsylvania. His grandparents immigrated to the United States from Hungary. He was drafted into the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served in the USAF in England during WWII. He attended Kent State University on the GI Bill. He was discharged in 1946, but was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict. He remained in the Air Force and was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Award, as well as the Air Force Commendation Award for his service in Vietnam. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1969, Frank began his second career as a JROTC instructor in Fayetteville, NC. He lived in Fayetteville with his wife Dorothy until her death in 1992. He then moved to Statesville and became an active member of New Sterling ARP Church, where he served as President of the Sterling Silvers and as a Deacon.

Frank was residing in Helotes, Texas near his daughter at the time of his passing. He was strong of mind, witty, and loved by all his family and friends. His spirit of generosity was evident to all who came in contact with him. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at New Sterling ARP Church in Stony Point, NC at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to New Sterling Church.
