Frank R. "Pete" Herzog, 73 of Huntington passed away at 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his residence. Frank was a 1962 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Purdue University. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves for six years. Frank was a teacher for 371/2 years at Riverview Middle School. He served in a number of different roles in the school system. Frank was the director of the Summer Youth Program in Huntington for a number of years. He was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church; he volunteered at the Historic Forks of the Wabash and was active with the Indiana Junior Historical Society. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, splitting wood and spending time with his family.

Frank was born on March 27, 1944 in Fort Wayne, the son of Frank J. and Marjorie (Wire) Herzog.

He was united in marriage to Margaret E. Sims on August 6, 1966 at Christ Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter: Beth E. (Christopher) Michel of Huntington; a son: Scott R. (Ashley) Herzog of Huntington; a brother: Kerry Miller of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter: Jayde Gray of Lafayette and eight other wonderful grandchildren who came into his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Marjorie Herzog; his stepfather: Dan Miller and a brother: James M. Herzog.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2978 W. 1100 N., Huntington, Indiana

Interment will be at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Huntington County at a later date.
