Franklin Z. Harmon of Collinsville, Virginia born June 29, 1933, passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016 after a long battle with health issue.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Rhoena; his children, Lavonda Eggleston of Cary, NC, Edward Harmon of Hickory, NC, Maxine Richardson of Fieldale, VA and Mary- Ann Walker of Danville, VA.

Also survived by seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Sisters, Cleo Goard, Shirley Burgess, Mikki Anderson and Joey Sink.

His love and strength held our family together. His life's work was in the furniture industry. Rising to become Plant Manager of Stanley Furniture Company, moving on to Pulaski Furniture, American Furniture of Martinsville, moving to Hickory, NC where he worked for Impact Furniture and Progressive Furniture where he retired as the Director of Manufacturing. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He worked tirelessly at Stone Memorial Christian Church. He was Deacon, an Elder , and he sang in the choir. Always ready to help with
anything that needed to be done. His work for the Lord was very important to him.

Fun for him was getting on his lawnmower and working his magic outside with his yard and flowers. He helped many people with their yard when they were unable to do it themselves. Always helping others.

He enjoyed bowling , spending time with family and friends and going to the beach. Through out all of his time until the very end he would tell us "Don't Worry Be Happy" with a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his beautiful face. We love you always.

In lieu of flowers, Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607 and Stone Memorial Christian Church, 3030 Virginia Avenue, Collinsville, VA 24078.
