Frederick Rouse, 85, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 18, 2012. He was born April 10, 1926 in Bay City, MI. He served in WWII as an Army Air Force Radio Operator & Mechanic. Fred graduated from Olivet College where he was a member of Phi Alpha Pi fraternity and later served on the Board of Trustees. Fred was very active in Michigan politics and the Republican Party. He served as first County Chairman of St. Clair County and was a delegate to the 1968 Republican Convention. In 1969, he was appointed by President Richard Nixon as the Chairman of the Great Lakes Basin Commission and was instrumental in development of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. Fred later owned a mortgage/real estate business in Vero Beach, FL specializing in citrus groves. Fred was an Eagle Scout and continued to volunteer his services to the Boy Scouts until his passing. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan and ended most conversations with "Go Blue". Fred is survived by: his wife, Barbara (Henry), whom he married in 1951, daughter Mary White, son John (Lisa) Rouse, 5 grandchildren, sister Marcia (Fred) Haynes and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by son, Stephen Rouse. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Community on Applegrove St. on Tuesday, March 27 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Boy Scouts of America or to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of his wife Barbara.
