Freida Swift, 97, of Amarillo died Thursday, November 9, 2017. She was born December 4, 1919 in Estancia, New Mexico to Emett & Justine Bomar. She was raised and educated in Silverton, Texas, Bovina, Texas, and House, New Mexico. After graduating from House High School, She worked for the Land Management office for Quay County, New Mexico. On April 11, 1942 she was married to Harry Swift. When World War II began, she became a civil servant and worked as a secretary for the War Department primarily at Wendover, Utah where her husband Harry was stationed. She worked as a church secretary for Netherwood Park Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico and North Amarillo Church of Christ, Amarillo, Texas. Freida was a faithful member of the Bell Avenue Church of Christ for many years. She was a faithful Christian wife, mother and grandmother and exemplified those qualities to everyone who knew her. She taught children's and ladies' Bible classes for over 60 years. She loved to be with her family, read, work in her garden, sew and travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents,husband Harry and her daughter Judy Newton five brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by a daughter Gayle Hankins and husband Eddie; five grandchildren and their spouses: Scott Hankins and wife Melanie, Kristy Lefevre and husband Billy, Tracy Gambill and husband Matt, Aleisha Malone and husband Blu, Zach Newton and wife Jamie; and eleven great-grandchildren: Hunter, Haygen and Brinley Lefevre; Zane, Kylie and Jaycie Hankins; Owen, Madeleine, Gretchen and Gillian Gambill; and Xander Malone. She is also survived by one sister Doris Dodd, and two brothers Edd Bomar and Ted Bomar and wife Alice.
