Gail E. Sanford, 79 of Grand Isle, died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at her home. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI on July 13, 1937 the daughter of the late Glenn and Marion (Curtis) Stuart. On August 10, 1957 she was married to Frederick Sanford in Vicksburg, MI. She graduated from Western Michigan University in 1958 and received her Master's degree from the University of Vermont in 1975. Gail worked for many years in Special Education at Pine Ridge School and the Grand Isle School District. Gail lived life to the fullest every day. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling and all the family's activities. She was very active in the community doing volunteer work for Ronald McDonald House Family Services, The Grand Isle Library, Meals on Wheels in Burlington and North Hero, RSVP, and the UVMMC. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in South Burlington. Gail is survived by her husband of 59 years Fred Sanford; her children Kim Campbell and husband Richard and their children Jason and Anthony; Dawn Weening and partner Philip Messina and her children Allison, Tom, and Kellie; Kevin Sanford and wife Melissa and their children Devon, Drew, and Piper; Kelley Anderson and husband Brian and their children Aliza, Nicole, Jared, and Peyton; her brother Kenneth Stuart and wife Carol; her two sisters Marilyn Sullins, and Sharon Sawallis and husband Dick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00am in Faith United Methodist Church, 899 Dorset St., So. Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail's memory may be made to the Grand Isle Public Library, 9 Hyde Rd. Grand Isle, VT 05458.
