Gale L. "Butch" Kunde, 74, of Belvidere passed away February 11, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born June 12, 1942 in Belvidere, the son of Harvey and Helen (Bloedorn) Kunde. In July of 1961 he married Bonnie Nelson.
Butch worked in the woodworking profession all his working years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but loved all sports. Butch served as a little league coach for many years and he was also a lifetime Atlanta Braves fan.
Butch was a very social man. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, family and friends. He was a social member of the American Legion and VFW and he liked pinochle with friends. Butch was also known to play the gambling machines and lotto from time to time. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles. All holidays brought a special joy for Butch, but he especially loved Christmas. Most of all Butch was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bonnie; his sons, Terry (Mary), Jim (Lisa), Tony (Marianne); his grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory, Cassie, Cody, Jake, Sam, Troy, Alexis, and Daniel; step-grandchildren, Brandan and Travis Brock; great-grandchildren, Graham, Beau, Michael, and one on the way; his mother, Helen Kunde Meinke; and his siblings, Bonnie (Bob) Oser, Ginny (Ed) Sytsma, and Larry Kunde.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey.
Visitation will be from 9:30am to Noon on Saturday, February 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union. The Funeral Service will follow at Noon.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Union.
