GARY MICHAEL PARKER COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LOUISIANA Funeral services for Gary Michael Parker of Swartz, Louisiana will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Reverend Henry Stone officiating. Committal services with military funeral honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, September 27th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Gary Michael Parker was born March 26, 1958 in Bastrop, Louisiana and he passed away, surrounded by his family, on September 25, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. Gary is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bealie and Eula Mae Parker and maternal grandparents, Hattie Freeman Malone and Frank Freeman, Sr. Gary was a P.E. teacher at Oak Hill Elementary School in Bastrop and he was lovingly known to his students (kids) as "Coach Parker". He was a wonderful man and a positive role model for many young lives. He had a heart for teaching. Gary was also a 2nd Lieutenant having served in both the Mississippi and Louisiana National Guard. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He relished in sharing with them his great love for music, movies, and his extensive knowledge of history. He showed a great love and compassion for his furry children who always seemed to find him. He will be greatly missed by Daisy, Lady, and Tiger. Gary's love and devotion to his family was immeasurable and his memory and spirit will forever be a comfort to them. Gary is survived by his wife, Deborah Herrington Parker of Swartz, Louisiana; two daughters, Jennifer Goza and her husband, Mit Goza of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Hollie Boudreaux and her husband, Bradley Boudreaux of Swartz, Louisiana; and his beloved grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Michael Brown, Wyatt Goza, Victoria Boudreaux, and Emily Boudreaux. He is also survived by his mother, Melba Parker of Bastrop, Louisiana; father, Malcolm Parker and his wife, B.J. Parker of Bastrop, Louisiana; brother, Keith Parker of Bastrop, Louisiana; nephew, Robert Parker and fiance, Jessica Case; niece, Megan Roberts; numerous aunts, uncles, and a host of extended family. Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Brown, Michael Brown, Bradley Boudreaux, Ken Green, Ron Crew, and Gary Hartley. Honorary pallbearer will be Craig Evans. For those who wish, Gary would request that memorials be made to either the River Cities Humane Society for Cats, 5302 DeSiard St., Monroe, Louisiana 71203, PAWS of NELA (Animal Shelter Rescue Program) P.O.
