Gayle M. Cooper, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away March 10, 2012. She was born July 11, 1926, in Indianapolis to the late William and Viola (Chapman) Maltsberger.

Gayle was a secretary at IPS #28 Longfellow Junior High, having retired after 25 years. She graduated from Arsenal Tech in 1944. Gayle was a member of the Society for the Prevention of Blindness. She was also a member of the Indianapolis Council of PTA for Schools #39 & #28.

Gayle is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Ed) Scahill, Stephanie Cooper and Lisa (Rick) Harris; sister, Donace VanTreese; seven grandchildren, Jason Ferguson, Jon Ferguson, Alison Wittenbring, Brent Bailey, Melissa Welty, Ryan Harris and Scott Bailey; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Cooper and brother, H. Russell Maltsberger.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
