George Bernard Fox, 83, passed away 25 January 2018, at home, surrounded by his family.
George was born in Cincinnati Ohio to the late George C. and Ruth J. Fox. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Dennis E. Fox, and in 2010, by his wife Matilde (Dadia) Fox, and his oldest son, Michael R. Fox.

George was a long-time resident of Virginia Beach, where he retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer (Aircrew Survival Equipmentman), in 1979, after a successful and rewarding 29-year career that spanned both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and included several highly enjoyable overseas tours in the Philippines. After his Navy retirement, George remained very active in the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), serving a term as Vice-President of Virginia Beach Branch #99. As a civilian, he worked for QED Corporation, and then for many years as a driver, for Hall Autogroup, before fully retiring.

George was a devoted father, grandfather (AKA Lolo), and great-grandfather, who was always there to help his family whenever there was a need. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Those of us who benefited from his advice and support are now left to cherish his memory, including his three children and spouses, Gail McCleskey (Kevin), Richard Fox (Barbara) and William Fox (Shelby); eight grandchildren, Brian McCleskey, Rane Fox, Wesley Fox (Breine), Brittany Fox, and Mika-Ann Gail Fox, Andy Craine, Robbie Beyer (Veronica) and Lindsey Beyer; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Fox, Carlie Matilde Fox, Benton Joseph Fox, and Ellasynne McCleskey; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Fox, and two nieces, Kathy (Fox) Schroeder (Andy), and Vicki (Fox) Harrell (Jim) of Cincinnati Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews located throughout the United States and in the Philippines.

The family would like to thank Sentara Hospice for their superb support in helping George and his family through the difficult last few months.

The family will receive friends and family, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm Sunday, January 28 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road.

A Celebration of Mr. Fox's life will be held on Monday, 2:00pm at the funeral home with interment to follow Rosewood Memorial Park.
