George Earl Moore, age 82, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, on January 1, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. George was born on October 4, 1935 to Due R. Moore Jr. and Myrtle Lucille McGary Moore in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Georgetown High School Class of 1953 in Georgetown, TX. George married his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Ahrendt Moore November 9, 1957 at the Lexington Methodist Church. George was a lifetime member of Carpenters Union Local 1266 Austin, TX and had just received his 60 year service pin.

George worked on the Restoration of the State Capitol in the early 90's. After retirement George filled his days working in his woodwork shop, where he enjoyed making vintage toys and other pieces that are treasured by his family. For several years he made items for the United Methodist Women's Fall Bazaar Fundraiser.
He was preceded in death by Father, D.R. Moore, Mother, Myrtle Lucille McGary, Stepmother, Flo Moore, Sister, Betty Morrow, Half-Brother Scotty Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mae Ahrendt Moore, Killeen, TX, Daughters; Sharon Gandy (Earl) of Izoro, TX, Connie Rogers (Kerry) of Florence, TX Sons; Bryan Moore (Mary Ann) of Kempner, TX, Duke Moore of Granger, TX, Brother, Due R. "Sonny" Moore III (Nina) of Bosqueville Farms, NM, Brother-in-Law Clyde "Lefty" Morrow of Hawley, TX, Half-Brothers; Rusty Moore (Malinda) of Crowell, TX, Larry Moore (Karen) of Aurora, CO, Obie Moore (Alina) of Washington, DC and Jay Moore (Rhonda) of Jackson, MN, Half-Sisters; Bonnie Moore of Denton, TX and Patty Locke (Randal) of Oak Point, TX. Services will be January 4, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, 508 N. Rockdale St., Lexington, TX at 1:00. Burial will be at the Lexington City Cemetery. Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
