On the morning of October 1, 2017 George Gustave Wieber, 95 year's young, of Ruther Glen, VA left this earth to be with his loving wife, Grace C. Wieber of 75 years. He is survived by his son George E. Wieber and his daughter Joyce A. Daily; Grandchildren, Carol Taylor, John Wieber, Kevin, and Jason Daily. Great grandchildren, Jenna, Jesse, Jacob, and John Ingoglia, Brooke and Taylor Wieber, Kayla, Connor, Jorja, Justine, and Joelle Daily. His 98-year-old sister, Dorothy Olsen, will also miss him along with his wonderful caregivers, Juanita Compton, Sherri Putnam, Jennifer Wood, Debra Schneider, and Quatresa Hudson who would take care of his every need, day and night, and his many friends at the local restaurant and his wonderful neighbors at Lake Caroline. George was born July 22, 1922 in New Jersey and started working with his father on a milk delivery wagon as soon as his father felt he could drive it by himself. He completed grade school a year early, which may have been because of an IQ of 154. He completed Pace University in New York in 3 years and started work as a Junior Accountant. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1943, where he immediately went to officer's candidate school and became an officer in what was then known as the "90 Day Wonders". First Lieutenant Wieber was sent to the Pacific Island to join the 17th Bombardment Squadron and flew 18 successful bombing missions over Japan and then returned home to his wife in December 1945. In 1954, after having spent many years as an accountant with various firms, he landed the position as Senior Accountant with Perkins & Squire, New York City where he worked to become Comptroller and Vice President and retired at 59 ½ years old to enjoy his life to the fullest. He always loved to live on the water where he could take all the children out water skiing, fishing, and clamming. He was always a great host at his wonderful house parties where many friends would come to enjoy any type of celebration. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating award winning stain glass lamps, making candles, and doing puzzles. He will be sadly missed by everyone who ever knew him. The visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. & 6:00 - 8:00 pm with a small service scheduled for Sunday October 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland, VA.
