Smiley, George Harding, age 75 of Potsdam passed away on Wednesday,January 4,2012 at the Upper Valley Medical Center,Troy. He was born November 10,1936 in Millersburg,Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Cloyd and Mildred Florence (Harding) Smiley,brother Harry Smiley. He is survived by his loving wife Wanda C. (Stephenson) Smiley, sons Stephen Harding Smiley (Angie Karns)-Potsdam,Daniel Wayne Smiley (Lisa Gay)-Potsdam, grandchildren Tyanna,Samantha,Danielle,Kain,Cameron and Cole ,brothers Buford Smiley-Cynthiana,KY.,Cecil Alan Smiley-Cynthiana,KY.,sister Ruth Finch-Maysville,KY. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army,received a Masters Degree from Ball State University,taught at Milton-Union,Franklin Monroe,Greenville and retired from Sinclair Community College as a counselor.He was a member of the Potsdam Church of the Brethren,while teaching Sunday School for many years. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday,January 8,2012 at the Potsdam Church of the Brethren, 22 E. Cross Street,Potsdam with Rev. Robert Kurtz officiating. Friends may call on Saturday,January 7,2012 from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home,284 N. Miami Street,West Milton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday,January 9,2012 at Potsdam Cemetery. If so desired, contributions may be made to F.I.S.H. or Milton-Union Public Library.
