Gerald E. Van Sice, 86, of Plano, Texas passed away at home on Saturday, September 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 16, 1930, in Rochester, NY, to the late Augustus and Evangeline (Vogt) Van Sice.

His faith sustained him throughout his life, from the nuns at Immaculate Conception to the decades serving as a Eucharist Minister at St. Marks Catholic Church. Upon his retirement he took pleasure in attending daily mass, he was a devout Catholic.

Gerald was a devoted husband and father. He married the love of his life, Marge, in 1953 and together they raised three children, doted on five grandchildren, and treasured three great-grandchildren. He was an unwavering caregiver to his wife until her death just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

He had a long career at Eastman Kodak Company, from the age of 17 until his retirement at 53. He was an avid golfer and scored not one, but two hole-in-ones. Gerald's treasured pastimes included gardening, and raising parakeets and cockatiels. Jerry never met a stranger. Those who knew knew him remember his sense of humor and he probably asked you to "pull his finger".

In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his sister Jeanette Jones and brother, Bernard Van Sice. He was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel Van Sice and his wife of nearly 60 years, Margery (Tubbs) Van Sice.

He is survived by: his daughter Patty (Van Sice) Broome and her husband Glenn, daughter Laurie Van Sice and her spouse Cathie Alvarado, and grandchildren: Amy (Van Sice) Whitehead and her husband Cliff, Beth and Tim Broome, Abby and Allie Van Sice, great grandchildren: Hadley, Ava, and Colin Whitehead. As well as several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. At St. Marks Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr. Plano, TX 75075, with Father Clifford G. Smith as celebrant. A reception at St. Marks Parish Center -McGiveny Hall, 1105 W. 15th St. Plano, TX will follow the mass and internment where light refreshments will be served.
