Gerald (Jerry) G. Egger died in Portland, Oregon on June 20, 2017 at the age of 81.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Debbi Mostul and husband Terry, daughter Cindy Smith and her husband David, son David Egger and his wife Vicki, and daughter Kristi Fazio and her husband David, all from Portland, Oregon. His sister, Nancy Grande from Portland, Oregon as well as 13 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Myrtle Egger, brother, Robert Egger, his wife, Carol Egger and granddaughter Stephanie Smith.

Jerry was born on August 6, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Arnold and Myrtle Egger He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1953 where he enjoyed playing baseball. After attending Portland State for two years he decided he wanted to farm. He married Carol, his childhood family friend July 20 1956 and they remained married for the next 60 years until her passing 17 days before him. He became partners with his father on the farm in Portland for several years until they moved the farm to Sauvie Island in 1966. Over seven years the couple welcomed 4 children into their home and they set about teaching them how to work on the farm. His children remember him as a wise and generous dad who encouraged them to put their faith in God.

Jerry was a dedicated farmer and worked hard to overcome the challenges that came with it. He had a generous heart and loved sharing his produce with others. In addition to his family he was passionate about hunting and loved sharing that passion with others. He was an active and dedicated member of Portland First Church and was faithful in his commitment to God.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at Portland First Church at 6100 SW Raab Rd. Portland, Oregon 97221 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerry's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Portland First Church for Hope Station at 6100 SW Raab Rd. Portland, Oregon 97221.
