Geraldine C. Brachtenbach

Geraldine Catherine Brachtenbach, was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Keller) Frauendorfer, born on February 22, 1927, along with twin brother Gerald in Humphrey, Platte County, NE. She and brother Gerald were the fourth and fifth of six brothers and sisters.

After living in Humphrey, NE, the family moved to a farm south of Lodgepole (Colton Precinct). Between 1936 - 1940 the family moved to Sidney, where Geraldine would later put down her own roots.

Geraldine was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Brachtenbach on April 23, 1947 in Sidney and they were blessed with three children: Corinne, Larry and Teresa Ann. Geraldine enjoyed quilting with her mother Mary, gardening with her husband, playing bridge, daily crossword puzzles and bowling. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Altar Society and enjoyed her role as President of the Benevolent Protective Order of Does*. She also spent many a year painting the homes her husband Lawrence built in Sidney.

Survivors include her children: Corinne McGee and husband Gary of Sidney, NE, Larry Jr. and wife Traci Brachtenbach of Casper, WY, and Teresa Nienhueser and husband David of Sidney; (6) grandchildren; Jo Becky Steffens, Austin and Chase Brachtenbach, Ashley Lundgren & husband Cory, Matthew Wells & wife Kayla and Kaitlyn Wells; (6) great- grandchildren; brother: Gene Frauendorfer of Millbrae, CA; sister: Marlene Linnenkamp & husband Jim of Johnstown, CO. Sister-in-law Lois Frauendorfer of San Mateo, CA; brother-in-law: Leo Brachtenbach and wife Joan of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Mary Ann Waggoner & husband John of Arvada, CO along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence, her parents Frank and Mary, her parents-in-law, Nick and Katie Brachtenbach, brothers Leonard and Gerald, sister Bernice Niemoller (January 1, 2018) & husband R. Gordon Niemoller, sisters-in-law Julia [Gene] Frauendorfer, Helen Hengl, Artie [Leonard] Frauendorfer, Kathryn Pelloni, Cecilia Wilcox &, Lauretta Needham; her twin grandsons Jason and Jesse Yardley.

Mass was held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday January 11th, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney, Father Mike McDermott officiating. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE.

* Benevolent Patriotic Order Of Does: in 1921 a group of women of Omaha, Nebraska, wives of Elks, discussed forming a lodge along similar works as the Elks. Although independent, this organization would be in harmony with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks {BPOE] and organized along similar lines.
