We regret to announce that Gerard (Gerry) Patrick Owens passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on the 22nd of September 2017 after a long struggle with cancer. Gerry's family remembers fondly his incredible life and the legacy he has left behind. Gerry was born on June 17, 1955 in Mullingar, Ireland. He left his Irish home in 1978 to pursue his higher education and a career in London, England. There, he met his wife, Anne (nee Collins), whom he later married. Anne and Gerry traveled the world as Gerry pursued and excelled in his career with ARCO and BP. Along the way, Gerry and Anne became the proud parents of four children: Hannah, Patrick, Thomas, and Rosanna (Posie). The family, ultimately, settled in Sugar Land, Texas in 1996. Gerry, loving brother, father, and grandfather, is preceded in death by his wife, Anne, and his parents, Patrick Owens and Rosanna Owens (nee Campbell). He is survived and sadly missed by his adoring children, Hannah, Patrick, Thomas, and Posie; his son-in-law, Brett Hill; his grandchildren, Christian, Peyton and Anne (Annie) Hill; his brothers, Johnny, Joe and Martin; and his sister, Ann Marie; as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and large extended family and many friends all over the world. Services to celebrate the life of Gerry Owens shall take place as follows: Visitation shall take place on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, located at 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. A vigil service, to include a praying of the Rosary, shall follow from 6:00 - 7:00 at the same location. Funeral Mass shall take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Laurence Catholic Church, located at 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77479. Gerry is fondly remembered and sorely missed for his limitless kindness, generosity, and unmatched dedication to every aspect of his life. We will forever carry his beautiful memory in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
