Gilbert Patrick Brady, 83, of New York, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and his children on September 18th, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, three daughters and two sons. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 22nd, 1933 to Marie and Walter Brady. He was one of 5 children and his survived by his brother and his sister. He was pre-deceased by his two sisters.

Gil and his siblings grew up in Brooklyn, NY and, despite being in Dodger territory, they were wise enough to become avid Yankee fans. Baseball was one of Gil's passions and both he and his brother earned baseball scholarships to St. John's University. The Brady brothers were fearsome 3 and 4 hitters in the Red Storm lineup. After working in many sales jobs-from selling exer-cycles and Hallmark cards-- Gil eventually found his true calling as a New York Life agent. His love of people and desire to help people create a wonderful life for themselves translated into a successful career at New York Life. He worked for New York Life for 50 years and touched countless people's lives there.

Gil's sense of humor and love of life will live on in our memories. Everyone who knew Gil has a great Gil Brady story that will bring you to tears with laughter. He was a great father, a great husband, a great uncle, a great brother, a great friend and, a truly, great man. His death is a loss to all of us who knew him but we are thankful that we were lucky enough to have him in our lives.

A wake will be held for Gil on Sunday, September 24, 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home and a mass celebrating Gil's life will be at St. Joseph's Church on Monday, September 25th at 10am.
