Goldie Rosen "Gilda" Schwartz died on Aug. 5 in Seattle, Wash., after a brief recurrence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was 89. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she and her husband, Arthur, relocated to Houston, where they raised their daughters and lived for 54 years. After his death in 2006, she moved to Seattle to be near family.

She is survived by daughter Rhona Schwartz and her husband, John C. Davenport; grandchildren Chelsea Davenport Yuan (Mark) of San Mateo, Calif., Spencer Davenport of Seattle, Adam Cumley of Mission, British Columbia and Alexandra Cumley of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia; great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Jay Yuan; brother Edward Rosen of New York; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Elaine Carol Cumley.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11 at Houston National Cemetery.
