Glenwood "Glen" H. Stone, 78, of Mechanicsville, passed on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Lalia Stone; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Woods; nephew, Jonathan Riffe; and great-granddaughter, Jubilee Haynie. He was retired from Phillip Morris after 30 dedicated years of service as a Fixer. He greatly enjoyed participating in drag racing in his younger years and was inducted into the Asphalt Angels Virginia Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2017. He was acknowledged for his many state and national drag racing records. He remained an unending fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies and Washington Redskins. He was an inspiration to his wife and children, and known as "Papa" to all. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley; 7 children, Andy Woods, Debbie McCabe (Paul), Donnie Stone, Kenny Woods (Holly), Terry Bagley (Randy), Darryl Woods (Tammy), and Pam Paxton (Shane); 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Annette Riffe (Mike); brother-in-law, Russell Hobson Jr. (Ann); sisters-in-law, Betty Jacob and Marie Hilling; loving niece, Karen Heflin; an extended host of other relatives; and cherished friends; Ronnie Jamerson and John Askew and his fellow Phillip Morris family. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 12 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Starkman, the kidney transplant team at Henrico Doctor's Hospital, and Dr. Karl Koenig. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care and to Joyce Brookman, RN of Hospice of Virginia.
