On September 20, 2017, Gloria H. Jimenez, of Houston, Texas, received fullness of eternal life and peace surrounded by her family.

Gloria was born August 27, 1932, in Brownsville, Texas, the second oldest of six children of Carolina and Edelmiro Hernandez, Sr. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Lisa; brother, Edelmiro Hernandez, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Josie Hernandez. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rogerio "Chico" Jimenez; son, Roland Jimenez; daughter, Cecilia Campbell and husband, David; brother, Fred Hernandez (San Diego); sister, Amanda Alvarez and husband, Antonio (Brownsville); sister, Socorro Garibay and husband, Frank (Long Beach); sister-in-law, Herminia Hernandez (Brownsville); and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria is a graduate of Brownsville High School, where she met the love of her life, Chico, whom she married August 22, 1954. They moved to Austin, Texas following their wedding, where Chico completed his studies at The University of Texas. After graduation, they lived briefly in Brownsville and then moved to Houston where they settled and remained through the rest of her life. She and Chico became charter members of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church until moving closer to their children, where they joined St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Gloria's legacy is complete devotion to family and God, and she was relentless in her caregiving for anyone she loved. In addition to the love she gave family, she shared it with several church ministries, one of which provided prayer visits to the sick in hospitals. She was a beautiful woman and her inner beauty captivated those who knew her.

Pallbearers are son, Roland Jimenez; son-in-law, David Campbell; and nephews, Danny Alvarez, Gilbert Alvarez, Ruben Alvarez and Luis Edelmiro Hernandez.
