Gloria Jean Sabota Covert, 92, of Culpeper, VA, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Mary's Place, a private senior care facility. She had been a resident for three and a half years at this wonderful, caring facility owned and operated by Mary Rohrer of Culpeper.
Born May 6, 1925, in East Huntington, PA, to the late Charles and Marie Sabota, she grew up in Mt. Pleasant, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Ralph R. Covert, who preceded her in death June 13, 2007. Her artistic skills were used not only in her occupation as a photographic tint artist at Gradler's Studio in Mt. Pleasant, but also in her avocations of oil painting, ceramics, interior decorating, design, gardening and sewing. To serve in United Methodist Churches, wherever she lived, she faithfully sang in the choir, headed the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School and Bible School- in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Virginia. She was a member of the Virginia Hendrick Circle here at the Culpeper United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Debra Greeley and her husband J. Monroe of Culpeper, VA, and Laurie Bradford and her husband William E. of Arlington, TX, a sister, Charlotte S. Copeland of Mt. Pleasant, PA, two grandchildren, Sheena B. Fratto and her husband Philip of Arlington, TX and Kyle Bradford of Addison, TX and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Chase Fratto of Arlington, TX.
Chapel Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA , with Pastor Randy Orndorff of Culpeper United Methodist Church officiating. Interment to follow services in the Culpeper National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
