Gloria Virginia Crites, 82, of Midland, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2017. Gloria was born on November 6, 1934, in Littlefield, Texas, to Lucille and S.W. "Buddie" Little.
Gloria grew up in Texas, helping raise her four younger siblings. She went to high school at Midland High and graduated in 1952. She married Billy L. Crites, her high school sweetheart, and they married on November 15, 1952. Gloria loved to play bridge with her friends while her husband was in the Air Force. They eventually settled in Midland in 1972 after Billy's retirement from the Air Force. She continued to play bridge at the Allison Bridge Center, where she would meet and make lifelong friends. She went on to compete in numerous bridge tournaments and was mentioned weekly in the paper for a job well done. She reached the highest honor by making Diamond Life Master, an achievement of which she was extremely proud. Gloria also loved to garden, which was obvious just by looking in her yards on Pasadena, where she and Billy made a home for their family and lived for 45 years.
If you knew Gloria, then you know that she would have done anything for a friend or family. She treated everyone she met like family, and we will all miss her amazing peanut brittle that she was famous for.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Billy; both of her parents; both brothers, Ollie J. Little and Buddy Gene Little, and her adorable granddaughter, Kassi.
She is survived by her son, Robert Crites, and wife Kay Crites of Midland; daughter, Stacey Moore, and husband, Richard Moore, of Midland; two sisters, Demeris Wheeler and Sandie Hand, both of Dallas, and the loves of her life, her grandsons Sean Crites, Jordan Bynum, Blake Bynum and Carson Carlisle, all of Midland, and two step-grandsons, Colton and Braden Moore.
There will be a visitation at Ellis Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gloria's name to either the Allison Bridge Center, 909 Wadley, Midland, TX 79705 or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midland, 714 W. Louisiana, Midland, TX 79701.
