Godofredo "Fred" Zamora, 89, returned to his heavenly home on September 24, 2017 of natural causes at Kennestone Hospital. He was surrounded by loved ones. Fred was born to the late Abundio and Leonarda (de Leon) Zamora, a High school teacher and homemaker respectively, in San Quintin, Pangasinan, Philippines on April 15, 1928. He graduated from FEATI Institute of Technology in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He placed 9th on the Board of Engineering Exam as an Assistant Electrical Engineer and was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia Fred's career sent him to work in Thailand for 4 years, Vietnam for 2 years and to the United States in 1967. He worked for Southern Engineering Company of Georgia for 15 years as a design and draft engineer. He worked for the Government on the Hoover Dam for 1 year and retired in 1994 from Aiken Electric Cooperative Inc. in South Carolina. Fred married Ambrosia Valen Marron on January 2, 1958 in San Quintin, Pangasinan, Philippines. They raised 3 children in Georgia.
Fred was a friendly person who enjoyed talking to everyone he met. Family was important to Fred. He always had his camera or video recorder capturing birthdays, holidays and his grandchildren's events. He served in the Filipino-American Association of Greater Atlanta as a Treasurer 1982, Vice-President 1983 and President 1984. Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ambrosia: his children Vicky Zamora, Glenn (Gladys) Zamora, Marilou (Bryan) Alexander; his grandchildren Steven and Daniel Zamora; Wanda and Noah Alexander; his brother Abundio "Buddy" Zamora Jr.; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Manuel, Cecilio, Mario, and Jose "Pepe". Family, friends, and others whose lives Fred touched are invited to the Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Pkwy, SE Marietta from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm on Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 6, 2017 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3401 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park at 1:00 pm.
