Grace Lee Horton was born to Walter and Jane Moore on April 30, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri. The family moved to Vallejo, California in 1953, and to Los Angeles, California in 1956. She became a licensed vocational nurse on May 20, 1958. Grace continued working full time, caring for three kids, and attending nursing school at night until she became a licensed practical nurse on November 15, 1974.
Grace became a Christian and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior early in life. She witnessed to people until her last day on Earth at Emerald Hills Rehabilitation Facility. Grace became a member of Bethel AME Church in 1956. She served and volunteered in many capacities for over fifty years.
She loved all types of music, especially gospel, country, worship and Motown. Grace loved modeling, dancing, singing, and cooking.
Grace never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by two daughters; Lonita Allen and Donna Spight.
She is survived by her son, Lon Cato and daughter-in-law Mattie Cato; sister, Doris Stewart; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of friends and other family.
