Exeter, VA

Gregory "Greg" Allen Barker, 51, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 29, 2012) at Lonesome Pine Hospital.

A 1980 graduate of Appalachia High School, Greg had the opportunity to work as a chef at Mosby's and Stringers before he began working for the coal mines. Greg loved buying and restoring vehicles especially Dodges and older classic cars-a true car nut. He was extremely proud of his family, especially his granddaughter whom he enjoyed visiting and talking with. He met his match, as a talker as Brooke loved talking to her "Poppy," and could not out talk her.

Greg was preceded in death by his little sissy, Susie Eagle of Dayton, OH and his daughter, Tara Jane.

Greg will be sadly missed by his wife, Darla; his daughter, Jessica and husband Matt Gilliam; his granddaughter, Brooklyn Renea; his dad and mom, Dallas and Jeanette Barker; his brother, Larry (Brenda) Barker; his maternal mother, Betty (Mullins) and husband Neal Eagle; four sisters, Lisa Mackey, Kim (Mike) Cecil, Regina Redmond, and Terri Eagle; several aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews; along with all his car buddies and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7pm on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roger Barker officiating.

Committal services will be held at 11.a.m. on Friday at the Glencoe Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service will meet at the Holding Funeral Home by 10:30am to go in procession to the cemetery

Pallbearers will be: William "Ace" Aistrop, Danny Joe Gibson, Matt Gilliam, Robert Mullins, Jim "Rookie" Phillips, and Marty Phillips.
